JC Recruitment has been quietly building up a reputation as the specialist retail recruitment agency in Northern Ireland. Having just placed its 200th candidate, this relatively new player is celebrating growing success – but it is a family legacy in the grocery trade that is giving the company insider expertise.

Based in Newtownabbey, JC Recruitment has serviced big retailers such as Musgrave Retail Partners and their brands, Tesco and the Co-op but prides itself on the relationships it develops with independent retailers whose businesses depend on good staff. JC Recruitment differs from other recruitment agencies by only sourcing candidates that are totally suitable for the available positions. This is based on a knowledge built up first hand by owner and Managing Director, Jonathan Cummings.

Jonathan’s grandfather was well known in the Glengormley area as a grocer who traded for over 52 years from the same location. “From as early as the age of four, I worked in my grandfather’s shop and grew up helping to stack shelves and replenish stock.” The shop eventually passed to his uncle who now owns a number of stores. Throughout school, Jonathan continued to work alongside his uncle, building up his knowledge and awareness of the grocery sector.
