Musgrave Retail Partners NI and its SuperValu and Centra retail partners in Northern Ireland have picked up a prestigious business award for corporate social responsibility (CSR), bringing the total number of CSR awards won by the business to 25. The Belfast Telegraph Northern Ireland Business Awards took place recently and Musgrave, in partnership with SuperValu and Centra retailers, won the Excellence in CSR Award for their support of local charity Action Cancer.
SuperValu has supported Action Cancer’s mobile cancer services since 2001 and helped the charity launch a state-of-the-art mobile unit - the Big Bus - in 2006, providing over £600,000 of funding towards the project. Over 11,000 people have used the innovative screening and health promotion services onboard the Big Bus. Centra, sponsor of the charity’s Health Action programme for schools since 2003, has provided £500,000 of funding to help more than 150,000 young people take part in healthy lifestyle sessions.
