Royal encouragement for Glen Tender

Local company Glen Tender, which specialises in producing beef from premium, native bred cattle reared using traditional methods, has been forging Royal connections. At a recent Hillsborough Castle Garden Party Glen Tender Director Harry McGaffin and his partner, Ruth Lutton, (pictured) found themselves discussing ethical beef production with an apparently unlikely expert, HRH The Princess Royal!
Harry, who lives in Gilford where the Glen Tender farm shop is situated, was delighted at the knowledge and interest expressed. He says: “I know that all the Royal family is interested in farming but The Princess Royal reminded me that she is in the beef production business too. She was extremely interested to hear what we had to say about our traditional, kind-to-cattle approach and was very aware of the need to try new approaches in order to provide sustainable livelihoods for local farmers. She gave us a lot of encouragement and some sound advice too!”
