One lucky EUROSPAR shopper has been given the ultimate antidote to the ‘January Blues’, winning £2,000 of holiday vouchers thanks to the brand’s ‘Elf on the Shop Shelf’ campaign, sponsored by Golden Cow.
Cara Neeson aged 8 scooped the coveted prize after spotting the elf hiding on the shop shelf of EUROSPAR Creightons of Finaghy and completed a competition entry form in store.
Selected from thousands of entries, Cara’s mum Sheena said she was extremely pleased to have been selected as the overall winner and was looking forward to putting the holiday vouchers to good use.
“Like most children, my daughter Cara was very excited about Elf on the Shop Shelf and couldn’t wait to get back to Creightons EUROSPAR and search for him in the run up to Christmas. I feel very thankful now that I gave in to her pester power and we can’t wait to use the prize and head off on a family holiday. Some people have suggested that we should go to the North Pole to visit the Elf but I think we’ll settle for somewhere a bit warmer!”
The competition took place right across Northern Ireland and saw participating EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA supermarkets hide the popular children’s character, Elf on the Shelf, in a different location each day throughout November and December. Children were then tasked with spotting the elf, as it hid on the shop shelf, and entered by uploading an image online or entering in store.
In addition to the overall winner, two runners-up have each won a top of the range bicycle, namely Clare Summer from Newtownards and Sharon Davis from Warrenpoint, thanks to promotion sponsor, Golden Cow.
The competition proved a hit with shoppers of all ages as many parents and guardians reported that their children enjoyed searching the shelves for the elf and enjoyed seeing this popular character out of their homes.
Conor Toland, Marketing Manager for Henderson Retail, owners of the EUROSPAR brand in Northern Ireland, said it was pleasing to see the campaign drive such positive results.
“After a successful trial in one of our EUROSPAR stores in Kilkeel in 2017, we were confident that the ‘Elf on the Shop Shelf’ campaign would prove popular with shoppers across the full network of EUROSPAR stores in Northern Ireland. We received over 21,000 combined in store and online entries, increased average footfall in our stores and grew our online presence significantly.
“Most importantly however, was the positive feedback from our shoppers telling us how much their children enjoyed coming to our EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA stores throughout December and taking part in the search for the elf. December-time is typically hectic for retail but we feel the campaign brought some festive cheer to our shoppers and we hope to grow this even further in 2019.”
“Congratulations to each of the winners and I’d like to thank all of our staff and customers who took part.”
