IFEX 2020 postponed to November 17-19
Montgomery Events, owners and organisers of IFEX, has made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s event which was due to be held at the Titanic Exhibition Centre, Belfast, on 24 – 26 March due to the significant escalation of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) cases across the United Kingdom as well as the announcement by the World Health Organisation that COVID-19 is now labelled a pandemic.
Damion Angus, managing director of Montgomery Group, said: “As the Covid-19 situation has been evolving, safeguarding the health of all our stakeholders is our utmost priority. We’ve made this decision in consultation with our major exhibitors and other event partners, and believe that postponing IFEX is the responsible decision, taken as a precautionary measure.
“IFEX 2020 is now scheduled to run on 17th – 19th November 2020 and we would like to extend our thanks to our venue partner, exhibitors, sponsors, competitors and industry partners for their ongoing support.”
Reacting to the postponement of IFEX, Colin Neill, CEO of Hospitality Ulster, said: “Whilst it is disappointing that IFEX has been postponed, I believe the event organisers have taken this difficult decision after fully considering all available information and taking into account people’s willingness to travel.
“We fully support their decision and believe this is the correct action in a developing situation.
“We wish to reassure both visitors and locals that our industry is taking every precaution and has increased our already high standards of hygiene. We will continue to act on all Government advice and our pubs, restaurants and hotels remain open for business.”
